Sometimes the best experiences on vacation are when you stumble across something that’s right up your alley. That’s what happened when we were in San Francisco. We were walking from our hotel to dinner and we saw Winter Walk, a pop up winter market.

I mean how could you not walk through this?

The city blocks off the street, lays down some AstroTurf and sets up their pop up experience. It was really fun to walk through. They had Christmas decor throughout including garland, Christmas lights, fake trees and more. There were several food trucks, a bar and some picnic tables set up. A lot of brands participated in the market so there were a variety of experience booths to see, like a selfie station, a candy shop, meat platter sampling and even a chocolate stand.

The bar had Christmas cocktails, so I got a cranberry lemon drink. We didn’t end up buying anything but it was a lot of fun to walk through it. As much as I love winter markets in Minneapolis, there is something to be said for markets when the weather is nicer. It makes for a more enjoyable experience when you can stick around to see and try everything you want, rather than worrying about getting inside to warm up.

At the end of the Walk, it opened up into Union Square which had a giant Christmas tree lit up, and a full outdoor skating rink. The whole experience really puts you in a holiday mood. If you’re ever in SF for the holiday season, I highly recommend checking it out.
