Winter has certainly had its ups and downs this year in Minneapolis. We’ve gone from 50F weather, to -30F wind-chill and have had everything in between. When the weather gets me down, I like to find activities to take my mind off the fact that there are still several months of winter left. Here’s a short recap of what I’ve been up to lately.
Go for a Walk, Stop at a Coffee Shop to Warm Up

View from the coffee shop
This usually is an activity I reserve for the days above freezing. A few weeks ago, Aaron and I drove to a neighborhood that we like and walked around for a while. We stopped halfway to get some coffee and warm up a bit before continuing on.
Photograph the Pretty Things

It was probably about -20 when I was running around trying to photograph this.
The Minneapolis skyline never gets old to me. I love how depending on the time of day and the weather it can look totally different. I like to steal glances at the skyline on my commute. One day, on my drive home I saw the skyline with the sun setting perfectly behind it. Naturally, I pulled over and hopped out of my car to capture the moment.
Find a Brewery to get Cozy in

Can’t go wrong with winter brews
Recently, when we went to one of our favorite breweries, I noticed they had blankets for customers to use! It’s really nice getting to cuddle up under a blanket and enjoy your favorite winter beer. We like going to a brewery and playing one of the many games they have available. It’s a fun indoor activity but is also getting you out of the house for a few hours.
Make Winter Specialties
One fun thing about winter is that it gives you an excuse to make all of the delicious winter treats! I made these raspberry and blackberry galettes for a book club I recently joined. Some of my other favorite winter specialties include chili and shepherd’s pie.
Plan your Next Travel Adventure

Somewhere over Greenland
I’ve been scouring Pinterest recently, learning everything I can about my next adventure location: London! It’s fun to day dream about what my next adventure holds, plus I feel more prepared about what to expect from my trip. I’ll be sure to post a recap for everyone!
So, what do you like to do in winter? Let me know in the comments below.
