When researching things to do in Berlin, I knew I wanted to do something that wasn’t super touristy, and possibly something weird and different. I came across posts about this abandoned listening station from the Cold War, which is now a trendy place for hipsters and tourists to hang out. I immediately put this at the top of my list.
Fall on the North Shore
Last weekend we made the most of our weekend and drove up to the North Shore. (Don’t worry, my Berlin post is coming soon!)
It was perfect because the colors of the leaves had changed and it was a beautiful day outside. We started out the morning by driving up to Duluth, where we stopped for lunch. Then from there it was just a quick hour drive to Gooseberry Falls, where we started our tour.Read More >>
Brussels: My Favorite City
Confession: Brussels is my new favorite City
When we were planning our honeymoon in Europe, we thought it would be fun to travel by train to explore a few different cities and to see the countryside in Europe. Because of it’s proximity to Paris and Germany, and the fact that they speak French there, Brussels ended up on our itinerary. So I booked us an Airbnb for 5 nights. Little did I know, what would soon be true: Brussels is my new favorite city.
Ghent in One Day
Europe is so great. You can just hop on a train and get anywhere you’d like in just a few hours. We visited Ghent in one day while staying in Brussels. It was relatively easy to go to the train station on the day of and purchase our train tickets. It took about two hours via train to get to Ghent from Brussels.
If you only have a day, here are some must-visit destinations in the city of Ghent.
Travel Struggles in Paris: When things don’t go smoothly on vacation
It wouldn’t be a proper trip to Paris if we didn’t start off with major issues. Here she the story’s of our travel struggles in Paris – We made it to the airport in Paris successfully. We even found the train we needed to get into Paris and bought our tickets from a machine with no issues, a big improvement from our first trip.
Late Summer Activities in Minneapolis
With summer winding down, you may be saying to yourself now what? It’s still too hot for sweaters and scarves, but you may be tired of doing the same summer activities over and over. Here are a few late summer activities I’m enjoying right now.
Northeast Minneapolis Breweries
If you know me in real life, you know that I am a frequent patron of Northeast Minneapolis breweries since they’re in my neighborhood. Breweries are great places to socialize. They’re also, so much more than a place to drink beer. Recently, I went to a vinyl record market at a brewery. Local vendors came with their crates of vinyl for sale, and we got to walk around browsing through some classic records while enjoying a beer. You can always find something fun going on at breweries in NE Minneapolis.Read More >>
Yes, You Can Afford to Travel Abroad
Hey everyone, I’m currently in full honeymoon travel planning mode. Only 117 days to go! Sometimes when I mention traveling, especially to Europe, I get comments like, “I can’t afford to travel abroad!” or “Wow you’re so lucky!” Well I’m here to tell you that you too, can afford to travel abroad. I don’t consider myself lucky that I can afford to travel; it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, so I made a plan and saved. It’s not as hard as you think. Here are my tips for how you can afford to travel abroad:
Minneapolis Murals
Now that warmer spring weather is here (sort of), I am trying to get out and explore Minneapolis more, so that’s where the hunt for these Minneapolis murals started. Hunting down murals in this city is the perfect mix of urban exploration and photography opportunities for me. I’ve always loved spotting street art in this city, they always add a pop of color that can really brighten your day.
Here are a few of my favorite Minneapolis murals that I’ve found while living here:
Exploring Paris: Parc des Buttes Chaumont
Guys, it’s less than 9 months now until I get married! In case you forgot, I got engaged in a Paris park in the summer of 2016. With the wedding coming up, I’ve been thinking a lot about our Paris trip and have begun planning a stop in Paris for our honeymoon.
While reminiscing about that trip, I starting going through the photos I took. I decided I should share some more photos from the trip. Specifically of my favorite park in Paris: Parc des Buttes Chaumont.
