Before we jump into the photos, this is a New Year’s theme after all so it’s only fitting to reflect on what I learned from this opportunity:
- Your shots will be awesome if you work with some awesome people – since I’ve never worked with models before, it was really lucky that these girls knew what was up. I’m forever grateful. They both made it seem so effortless!
- Always take more photos than you think you need with different settings/lighting/etc. – this one got me down a bit. I know that some of the shots, especially with the shiny background could have been better. But now I know what does and doesn’t work for my camera. Plus now I have ideas for next time.
- What you think is going to be your favorite shot probably won’t be. – I thought for sure the bar cart would be my favorite. Turns out, the last photos with the white wall in the background are my absolute favorite. Both girls look stunning.
- Have fun! – The only reason I got back into photography was because I enjoyed it. It’s important to remember to have fun, even while you’re in the middle of something you’ve never done before and especially if it feels super nerve racking.

I know I keep saying this but, I feel so lucky to have gotten to work with all of these ladies! It may have been my first styled shot but I know for sure that we’d never have been able to pull it off if they weren’t all so awesome. I can’t wait to see what we come up with next.
