My new record player with some vinyl
Hey everyone, I’m back! Welcome to the new AdventuresWithAmber.com website. Before I share my favorite Spring time activities, some website updates. I’d been holding onto this URL for a while, and after some major hosting problems with the website, it seemed like the time to make the switch. Be sure to update any bookmarks you may have to this new address.
It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, so I wanted to share some updates with you. Aaron and I went to London back in March. I’m still going through the thousands of photos I took, but I can guarantee that you can expect a post or two about our London adventures.
The main reason why that post isn’t up yet is because I got a new job! I’m doing web and graphic design for a non-profit in Minneapolis. I love everything about my new job. I guess I didn’t realize just how stressful my old job was. After making the switch to the new job, I took some time away from the blog. I’m happy to say I’m back now and hope to make posting a more regular thing.
Here are some of the things I’ve enjoyed in Minneapolis this spring:
Art-A-Whirl

BauHaus patio for Art-A-Whirl
Art-A-Whirl is a weekend long art event in Northeast Minneapolis. Local artists open their studios up to the public and you can buy their works. Restaurants and breweries in the area also participate by offering discounts if you made an art purchase and some places have live bands preforming. This was my first year attending. Last Friday we started the weekend off by going to BauHaus Brewery and getting burgers from a pop-up restaurant they had on the patio. Then on Sunday we went and walked through some of the studios. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait for next year!
Syttende Mai

Heart Waffles with raspberry jam
Syttende Mai, or the 17th of May, is Norwegian Constitution day. The Norwegian Consulate is in the same building as my office so on May 17, they had an open house where they served heart waffles, which are an iconic Norwegian food. They served them with sour cream and either raspberry jam or salmon. I went for the raspberry jam. They were so tasty!
Mayday Parade
Every year, a puppet theater group in Minneapolis puts on a May Day parade. There are a lot of cool pieces in the parade since it’s put on by a theater group. Lots of puppets and brightly colored outfits. They also aren’t allowed to have motors on any of the floats so anything in the parade has to be pushed/pulled. It was a lot of fun to watch. It was really packed but they also have a festival in a park nearby that has food trucks and a spring-themed ceremony and presentation.

Record Store Day

My new record player with some vinyl (and a bonus cat reflection!)
A few weeks ago, it was Record Store Day. This is a day to help promote local record stores. I participated by getting two of my all-time favorite albums on vinyl: The Shepherd’s Dog by Iron & Wine, and Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons. I also had to get a turntable to play the albums on. Isn’t the blue suit-case style adorable??
The Lakes

Lake of the Isles
A bonus of my new job is that we get Friday afternoons off. I’m also really close to the lakes. Aaron and I have started meeting up after I get off work on Fridays and walking over the the lakes. Today we even brought a picnic. And we got some duck visitors!

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading.
