Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Here are a few simple things you can do to make your social media content more accessible right now:

• Use ALT text descriptions on images. FB and Twitter let you edit the alt descriptions of images. For Instagram, you can add an image description at the bottom of your caption. (See my example below)
• Capitalize the first letter in each word on hashtags. This allows screen readers to read the text properly.
• Add captions to your videos. Instagram and TikTok have an auto-caption system. You simply turn it on. You can also go back and edit anything it gets wrong.
• Don’t add too many emojis in the middle of sentences.

Accessibility should be the default, not an extra. #GAAD
