The largest Chinatown outside of Asia lives in San Francisco. Experiencing the one in San Francisco feels like a vacation on its own. In fact, Chinatown draws in more tourists than the Golden Gate Bridge every year. It covers a 24 block area. Read More >>
I didn’t know much about Oakland, CA before we took our vacation to the Bay Area, but it had always interested me. Sure everyone visits, San Francisco, but what is Oakland, CA all about? I put together an Oakland City Guide, just for you! These are a few of the things we did in Oakland, that I would highly recommend. Read More >>
Sometimes the best experiences on vacation are when you stumble across something that’s right up your alley. That’s what happened when we were in San Francisco. We were walking from our hotel to dinner and we saw Winter Walk, a pop up winter market.
I mean how could you not walk through this?
Winter is here and we’re all hiding inside until the sun comes back out. I wanted to share some places I’ve been frequenting lately that I thought you might want to check out. Here are my Minneapolis Favorites:
Berlin was the last stop on our honeymoon adventures in Europe. Since neither of us had ever been to Germany, and neither of us speak German, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I chose a week in Berlin because I knew there was a big art scene here. It was also somewhere that we could explore for the first time together. We did some touristy things and some not-so-touristy things with our week in Berlin.
When researching things to do in Berlin, I knew I wanted to do something that wasn’t super touristy, and possibly something weird and different. I came across posts about this abandoned listening station from the Cold War, which is now a trendy place for hipsters and tourists to hang out. I immediately put this at the top of my list.
Last weekend we made the most of our weekend and drove up to the North Shore. (Don’t worry, my Berlin post is coming soon!)
It was perfect because the colors of the leaves had changed and it was a beautiful day outside. We started out the morning by driving up to Duluth, where we stopped for lunch. Then from there it was just a quick hour drive to Gooseberry Falls, where we started our tour.Read More >>
Confession: Brussels is my new favorite City
When we were planning our honeymoon in Europe, we thought it would be fun to travel by train to explore a few different cities and to see the countryside in Europe. Because of it’s proximity to Paris and Germany, and the fact that they speak French there, Brussels ended up on our itinerary. So I booked us an Airbnb for 5 nights. Little did I know, what would soon be true: Brussels is my new favorite city.
Europe is so great. You can just hop on a train and get anywhere you’d like in just a few hours. We visited Ghent in one day while staying in Brussels. It was relatively easy to go to the train station on the day of and purchase our train tickets. It took about two hours via train to get to Ghent from Brussels.
If you only have a day, here are some must-visit destinations in the city of Ghent.
It wouldn’t be a proper trip to Paris if we didn’t start off with major issues. Here she the story’s of our travel struggles in Paris – We made it to the airport in Paris successfully. We even found the train we needed to get into Paris and bought our tickets from a machine with no issues, a big improvement from our first trip.
